Bald Rock

A gated 778-acre mountain community above Sapphire Valley with an equestrian center, 9.2 miles of private trails, and a trail connection into Panthertown Valley.

About Bald Rock

Bald Rock is a gated mountain community above Sapphire Valley, set on 778 acres along a ridgeline between 3,500 and 4,200 feet. It is reached from US 64 by way of Trays Island Road, and Cashiers is just a few minutes away. The community has 120 homesites spread across a landscape of creeks, waterfalls, and a rare mountain bog, with long views over Bald Rock and Fairfield Lake.

Westmark Development Corporation developed Bald Rock in 1995, and the community calls itself the "Civilized Wilderness" of the Blue Ridge. Bald Rock borders the Panthertown Valley Backcountry Area, about 6,300 acres of national forest often called the "Yosemite of the East." Owners can reach Panthertown directly by a connecting Forest Service trail that is open to hikers, bikers, and horses. It is one of the few communities on the Plateau built around horses, and neighbors often get together for cookouts at the pavilion and mule rides to sunset viewpoints.

Golf Nearby

Bald Rock is not a golf community, but Sapphire has plenty of golf close by. The Country Club of Sapphire Valley and Burlingame Country Club are private, member-owned clubs. Sapphire National Golf Club and Red Bird Golf Course are open to the public. Wade Hampton Golf Club and High Hampton are a short drive away in Cashiers.
