Welcome to Burlingame Country Club

Burlingame Country Club is a gorgeous mountain community in the heart of Sapphire Valley with an incredibly beautiful golf course. In 1973, Darnell Boyd purchased 1450 acres along the wild and scenic Horse Pasture River naming the community Sapphire Lakes which is now known as Burlingame. In 1983, design and construction began on the front 9 golf course, and the back 9 was completed in 1985. Mr. Boyd sold the club to a local resident who in turn resold the club in 2009 to the members.

Major renovations have been completed over the years with new expansions in the planning stages.  A huge new welcoming bar area, Al Fresco dining, formal dining and causal dining opportunities invite members to settle in for an evening with friends and family.

People & Lifestyle

The Club environment is known as one of the friendliest on the entire Plateau. Those who live in this affluent community spend their time enjoying the numerous outdoor amenities. Whether it’s spending time crafting their golf game, playing tennis with friends, or bringing their furry family member to the 3 acres enclosed dog park - there is never a shortage of things to do.  The Club has a full Craft program, a Book Club, a Men's and Ladies' Bible Study, Lunch and Learn lectures and so much more. The Horse Pasture River offers one of the best fly fishing experiences in all of North Carolina and runs right through the community and golf course.

The Club overlooks one of the most scenic holes which offers fantastic views. Lawn sports include Croquet, Tennis, and Pickle Ball. The huge outdoor resort-style pool is a gathering spot throughout the summer for grandkids to play or a place to enjoy reading a book poolside while enjoying your favorite cocktail.

Dining & Entertainment

Burlingame residents have access to everything from fine dining to good old-fashioned southern cuisine. The club serves dinner 5 nights a week and lunch every day except Monday. Burlingame Chefs are trained in a multitude of culinary arts and are always happy to accommodate any dietary needs.

Themed dinners are always a hit every Wednesday night after Twilight Golf which draws golfers and nongolfers alike. Outdoor parties for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day are huge draws for family gatherings.  The entire week of the 4th of July has activities for the kids including crafts, golf, and swimming lessons, fireworks, and a golf cart parade at no charge for members' kids and grandkids.

Nearby restaurants include Osteria, The Fix Restaurant and The Fix Lounge, The Library, Micas, Slopeside Tavern, Panthertown Cafe, and more.
There’s a great deal to do in Sapphire, especially for those who love the outdoors. Transylvania County is known as the Land Of Waterfalls and has over 250 waterfalls alone.  Couple that with the surrounding counties of Macon and Jackson and you can literally hike to a different waterfall for the next year without repeating!
